Domaine Schlumberger

Established by Nicolas Schlumberger in 1810, this is the largest estate in Alsace, with 140 hectares of vineyards. The steep terraced vineyards surround the village of Guebwiller in the Haut-Rhin - 50% of them are Grand Cru. Yields are severely restricted and the top cuvées are aged in cask for 12-24 months. Shlumberger produces a wide range of wines from all the Alsace grape varieties, though it particularly excels in Gewürztraminers and Rieslings. Its best wines are rich, powerful, concentrated and can be very long-lived.
